Case Study

AMAC Refrigeration
Refrigeration system installation, Mushroom farm East Yorkshire
Project specification: Cold room additional cooling and new warehouse cooling

Design criteria: Our client had specified for this project that an existing 50Kw twin fan evaporator coil be replaced with a like-for-like brand new unit. Also, the client had decided to install 3 x new 100Kw evaporator coils, condensers and R404a screw compressor sets into its holding warehouse where produce was stored whilst waiting to be loaded onto the articulated lorries.

Scope of works: To de-commission, recover refrigerant, remove evaporator fan coil, re-install new fan coil, pressure test and re-commission system. To install 3 x 100Kw evaporator fan coil units, condenser units and screw type compressor sets on bespoke steel box-section frames to new logistics warehouse to include refrigerant charging and commissioning.

Method of installation:
Firstly, we made safe and de-commissioned the existing 50Kw system serving one of the smaller satellite cold rooms. We then removed and re-fitted a like-for-like evaporator twin fan coil unit and pressure tested the system to industry guidelines. We then triple evacuated the system and drop charged it with the original refrigerant. Once the system was running we performed full commissioning tests. We then set about installing the systems to the new logistics warehouse. The evaporator coils were sufficiently heavy to necessitate them being hung via a bespoke steel box-section framework. Pipework was taken to outside through an insulated hole to outside (thus ensuring the integrity of the cold room) where it was terminated at the compressor set and condensing units. The systems were pressure tested to industry guidelines for a period of 24 hrs. The systems were then triple evacuated and charged with new refrigerant. Once running the systems were fully commissioned.
Completion & hand-over: Once all systems had been commissioned, a written record of the gas charge, commissioning data and manufacturers details were recorded and forwarded on to the client so that current on site records could be updated to comply with all “F Gas” legislations.

here we are testing this particular site in dunstable to carry water temperature monitoring and leginoella sampling.

the site results have come back clear and the service is good to go for another year
